Why a fertility consultation?
At Midwifery Practice Maashaven we are happy to help you with a fertility consultation. This is also called preconception care and helps you to start a pregnancy as healthy as possible.
Many problems during pregnancy and even health problems later in life in your child can already arise in the first phase of pregnancy. A healthy lifestyle and good preparation help to improve the conditions under which you become pregnant.
During the fertility consultation, we discuss everything that may affect your pregnancy and the health of your baby:
Healthy lifestyle – Nutrition, exercise and habits that are good for you and your partner.
Folic acid & vitamins – Start with folic acid (0.4 mg per day) to increase the chance of a healthy pregnancy.
Medication use – Sometimes medication needs to be adjusted if you want to get pregnant.
Menstruation & fertility – How does your cycle work and when is your fertile window?
Previous pregnancies – Have you had any complications before? We look at how we can best guide you now.
Family history – Hereditary diseases or conditions in your family or that of your partner.
Smoking, alcohol & work – Which factors can pose a risk and how do you deal with them?
Prenatal testing – Opportunities to investigate certain conditions in advance.
ZwangerWijzer: Your first step towards a healthy pregnancy
Do you want to know if there are any health risks for you or your future child? Then fill in the questionnaire together with your partner on www.zwangerwijzer.nl. He or she will help you prepare and provide insight into any points of attention. Completing it takes about 15 minutes. Bring the outcome to your appointment so we can talk about it together.
Costs & reimbursement
The preconception consultation is reimbursed from the basic insurance. Check with your health insurer in advance whether this also applies to you.
