Preparing for your birth
Every woman prepares in her own way. What suits you? On this page you can read more about how to prepare properly.
Information evening about childbirth
Good preparation helps you to live towards the birth with confidence. When you know what to expect, you often feel calmer and can relax better. This makes it easier to deal with the contractions.
That is why the Ikazia Hospital and the Maasstad Hospital organize information evenings about childbirth.
During these evenings you will receive extensive information about the course of the birth, pain relief and what to expect in the hospital or with a home birth. There is also room to ask questions.
Would you like to know more or sign up? Check the websites of the Ikazia Hospital and the Maasstad Hospital for the dates and registration.
Pregnancy course
A pregnancy course can help you prepare well for childbirth. It is not mandatory, but choose what suits you. We give you a lot of information and tips, but a course often goes deeper into certain topics.
In addition, it is a great opportunity to meet other pregnant women and share experiences. Most courses start around 24 weeks of pregnancy, but this can vary. There is a wide range of options in our region. Here you will find a handy overview.
Your birth wishes
A birth cannot be planned exactly, but you can indicate what you think is important. In a birth wish list you briefly describe your preferences for childbirth. This helps us to take your wishes into account as much as possible.
Around 34-36 weeks we will schedule an extensive meeting to discuss your birth wishes. Together we look at what is possible and medically justified. We also explain what you can expect during the delivery and when you should call us. This conversation is also valuable for your birth partner(s), such as your partner, mother or a friend.
Would you like help drawing up your birth wishes? Then use our handy checklist.
