No pink cloud?
You’re not alone. Some mothers fully enjoy their baby immediately after birth and feel like they are on a pink cloud. But is that pink cloud self-evident to everyone? No, certainly not. Maybe you don’t recognize that feeling at all. That is not strange and certainly not wrong.
Getting used to your new life
The first period after childbirth is often tough. Your body has to recover, your nights are short and you suddenly have a lot of responsibility. That can cause uncertainty. Try to take care of yourself and take the time to get used to your new role as a parent.
Rest is important for your recovery. Try to sleep when your baby is asleep, as you’ll often be awake at night to feed and change. When you are tired, you can become overstimulated more quickly or get the feeling that everything is too much for you.
Give yourself time
Parenthood brings insecurity, and that’s normal. No one is a perfect parent! Don’t expect to know everything right away and dare to ask for help from family or friends. The longer you are together with your baby, the better you get to know each other and the more trust you get.
Do you remain gloomy? Talk about it
It is normal to experience peaks and valleys. But do you notice that you are permanently gloomy, irritable or extremely tired ? Or can you hardly enjoy yourself? Discuss it with your doctor.
